1/2 Cup of firmly packed flaked coconut
3/4 Cup of chopped pecans
2 Cups of firmly packed brown sugar
2 Cups of flour mixed with 1 & a 1/2 Tablespoon of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt

Layer ingredients in the order given above in a 1-quart wide mouth canning jar. Press each layer firmly in place before adding next ingredient.

Recipe to attach to the jar. I suggest since these instructions are a bit long that you find a nice gift card to write it on:

Butterscotch Brownies
Contents of the gift jar
3/4 Cup of (1 & a 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine, completely softened
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Preheat your oven to 375 degree F. Spray a 13 x 9-inch metal pan with non-stick coating spray.

Empty the brownie mix into large mixing bowl. Thoroughly blend the mixture.

Add the butter or margarine, eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until completely blended. Spread the batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes in pan.

Cut brownies into 1 & a 1/2-inch squares. Yields 2 dozen brownies.
